I have taught children from the ages of five and older piano lessons for over 17 years. There are so many benefits of music education on children as they grow. Studies have shown that exposure to learning music before the age of 12 actually helps to increase the pathway of communication between the hemispheres of the brain. Further, there are many studies that cite improvements in performance and grades at school as well. The benefits can be more than just grades, but also attention span, focus and other areas. I’ve seen many young people mature and take the lessons they’ve learned at the piano and applied them into other areas of their lives with great success.
